Yavapai-Apache Trail Mapping

Yavapai-Apache took the historic trail in 2016 which their ancestors were forced to march from their land surrounding the Rio Verde Indian Agency to the San Carlos Indian Reservation in the winter of 1874. In 2016 when marching the trail CompassData was invited to come along and map the route from modern day Cottonwood to San Carlos, Arizona. The route followed the historical information compiled by historians from diaries, journals and recordings of the elders. The route leads through the rugged mountain ranges along valleys crossing bare land.
