During a two month period in the summer of 2013, CompassData collected GPS data for approximately 300 miles of natural gas pipeline and approximately 2500 natural gas meters. The GPS data was used to produce an accurate “as-built” map of the pipeline to assist with management and maintenance.

The survey team also documented “problem areas” (e.g. areas where the pipeline was non-existant, areas where the pipeline and meter installation was incomplete, etc…) by taking geo-referenced pictures of the locations and assigning attributes to the pictures describing nature of the problem.
